Graphite One, Lucid Partner to Strengthen EV Materials

A new chapter in America’s clean energy journey is taking shape, and at its center is a bold alliance aimed at redefining how critical minerals power the future of transportation.

Graphite One, a leading developer of U.S.-based graphite supply chain solutions, has just announced a key partnership with electric vehicle manufacturer Lucid Group, marking a major milestone in the launch of MINAC — Minerals for National Automotive Competitiveness. This newly formed collaborative brings together a select group of miners, processors, and automotive innovators with a shared goal: to strengthen the domestic supply chain for critical minerals, reduce U.S. dependence on foreign sources, and drive long-term economic and industrial growth.

The initiative, unveiled during a Capitol Hill event in Washington, D.C., is backed by key political leaders including Arizona Governor Katie Hobbs and Alaska Senator Dan Sullivan, signaling strong bipartisan support for reshaping America’s mineral independence. It also aligns closely with recent White House Executive Orders focused on securing and strengthening the U.S. critical minerals supply chain—especially for electric vehicle (EV) production, which remains highly vulnerable to global supply risks.

At the center of this alliance is Graphite One’s commitment to supplying both synthetic and natural graphite to Lucid. This action follows on from a previous offtake agreement announced in Alaska last month and is another strategic move in Graphite One’s quest to create an end-to-end, circular graphite materials system—one fully based in U.S. soil.

CEO Anthony Huston was keen to stress the importance of the Lucid alliance, pointing out that MINAC is not merely a commercial deal; it’s a national declaration of intent. “With MINAC as domestic developers of the critical rechargeable battery materials and Lucid as an end-user, this deal represents a substantial move toward establishing the fully U.S.-based supply chain that is a vital component of U.S. energy dominance,” he said.

Graphite One’s broader strategy is built around its Graphite Creek deposit in Alaska, identified by the U.S. Geological Survey as the largest of its kind in the country and among the largest worldwide. The company’s vision goes far beyond mining: it includes a manufacturing facility in Warren, Ohio, for battery-grade anode materials, and a co-located recycling center designed to recapture graphite and other valuable battery materials—forming a full-circle solution aligned with sustainability and national security goals.

As EV demand accelerates and the global race for critical minerals intensifies, MINAC represents a rare convergence of innovation, policy, and industry leadership. It’s a timely reminder that energy independence isn’t just about resources—it’s about building the infrastructure, relationships, and resilience needed to power the future from the ground up.
