SANY Begins Work on 10MW Solar Project in Zimbabwe

SANY is lighting up Zimbabwe—literally and figuratively—with the groundbreaking of a brand-new 10MW solar power plant that’s set to reshape the country’s energy future. At the end of June, construction officially began on what will be SANY’s first solar project in Zimbabwe—and a landmark one for Africa. What makes it especially notable is the introduction of SANY’s innovative “EP+F” business model, which uniquely combines engineering, procurement, and financing into one streamlined package tailored to meet customers’ financial needs. It’s a flexible approach designed to make clean energy far more accessible in emerging markets.

The heart of the project lies in SANY’s cutting-edge technology: its self-developed 710 high-efficiency photovoltaic modules, paired with advanced inverters and ultra-strong support structures. Once operational by the end of 2025, this plant is expected to churn out a powerful 18 million kWh annually. That’s not just energy—it’s opportunity. From powering local industries to improving daily life and advancing the shift to greener energy, the ripple effects will be significant.

This project also sets the stage for more future-forward collaborations. The mining company behind the project has already shown interest in expanding the partnership with SANY to include next-gen solutions like microgrids, e-trucks, and EV charging infrastructure.

But this isn’t SANY’s first African milestone. Just last year, the company completed a solar-storage-diesel hybrid project in Zambia—Africa’s first and largest of its kind. That system now delivers 16 million kWh annually and has already saved the client over 20 million RMB in electricity costs, making a massive dent in operational expenses.

SANY’s relationship with Africa runs deep. With over two decades of partnership, the company has embedded itself in the continent’s growth journey—not just through technology, but through people. Over half of SANY’s African workforce is locally hired, and it continues to create thousands of jobs and build capacity through training, knowledge-sharing, and long-term investment.

As Zimbabwe looks ahead to a cleaner energy future, SANY isn’t just delivering infrastructure—it’s helping write a new chapter for sustainable growth in Africa.
