Primemas and Micron Partner to Boost CXL 3.0 for AI

In a major step toward advancing memory technologies for AI and data centers, Primemas has announced its collaboration with Micron through the CXL ASIC Validation Lab (AVL) program. This partnership aims to fast-track the commercialization of next-generation Compute Express Link (CXL) memory solutions—particularly with the unveiling of Primemas’ groundbreaking Hublet®-based CXL 3.0 controller.

Primemas, known for its chiplet-based system-on-chip (SoC) solutions, has begun shipping customer samples of what is claimed to be the world’s first CXL 3.0 memory controller. These samples follow months of testing and validation in collaboration with strategic customers and partners, whose early feedback has helped fine-tune the product’s performance and capabilities.

Unlike conventional memory expansion controllers, which are often restricted by rigid form factors and fixed DRAM capacities, Primemas’ Hublet® architecture brings a new level of modularity and scalability. This architectural flexibility enables customized configurations to suit a variety of memory needs, whether compact, high-capacity, or hyperscale deployments—pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in AI-driven and data-heavy computing environments.

The journey to commercial readiness hasn’t been without challenges. Ensuring stable, high-performance memory operations while maintaining power efficiency is no small feat in the CXL landscape. That’s where Micron’s AVL program comes in—offering a rigorous platform to test and validate emerging controllers with Micron’s advanced 128GB RDIMM modules. The goal is clear: deliver robust and reliable solutions that are fully optimized for next-gen workloads.

Jay Kim, EVP and Head of Business Development at Primemas, expressed optimism about the collaboration, noting how well the Hublet® has been received by early partners tackling complex AI and analytics workloads. The partnership with Micron marks a critical milestone in scaling those innovations toward broader commercial deployment.

Micron’s Luis Ancajas echoed the sentiment, emphasizing how the explosion of AI is driving the need for more memory-intensive solutions—and how CXL is poised to play a pivotal role in transforming traditional computing platforms. By working with innovators like Primemas, Micron aims to unlock new levels of efficiency, scalability, and performance across the data center landscape.

Together, the two companies are not just validating new technologies—they’re shaping the future of AI infrastructure. This collaboration highlights a shared commitment to engineering excellence, and sets the stage for even more transformative breakthroughs in the memory space.
