Vodafone has introduced a new digital travel platform built around its Travel eSIM, making it easier and more affordable for travelers to stay connected. This service works on any mobile network and lets users access reliable data while keeping their current phone number.
With the Vodafone Travel eSIM, users can add mobile data for their trips without changing their number or switching networks. It helps with everyday tasks such as using translation apps, checking maps, and accessing emails and messages.Customers simply download the app or visit the Vodafone website, select or customize a data plan, and install the eSIM in just a few minutes.
The launch aims to tap into new global customer segments by combining Vodafone’s extensive international coverage with a fast, digital experience. According to Vodafone’s research, 84% of 2,000 people would think about adopting such a service if it were affordable, user-friendly, and allowed them to keep their number. With this eSIM, users no longer need to wait in line for a physical SIM or search for free Wi-Fi. Activation takes about 90 seconds.
Customers can use this eSIM on compatible smartphones or devices across one or multiple countries. Starting today, Vodafone’s Travel eSIM is available in 206 destinations on over 700 networks, including 5G in 98 countries, making it one of the most expansive high-speed data services available.
Vodafone is also enhancing customer support through its AI-powered assistant, SuperTOBI. This GenAI chatbot offers multilingual support and handles complex queries better than traditional support bots.
Vodafone CEO Margherita Della Valle said, “With our new digital platform, we are offering users of all networks across the world a worry-free, easy-to-use travel experience in more than 200 countries. The Vodafone Travel eSIM service is set to be the ideal international data service for any mobile user.”
This service supports data-only use, which reflects how most travelers now rely on email, video calls, and internet access while abroad. Users can choose from a range of data bundles, including top-up options and customizable packages. While the plan doesn’t include voice and SMS, customers can still use their usual plans for calls and texts.
The launch comes as global spending on eSIM services is expected to grow from €3.1 billion to nearly €7 billion by 2028. Vodafone aims to provide the Travel eSIM with added services such as travel insurance and grow via partnerships. Its first partner, Uber One, is giving members access to Travel eSIMs across 44 European countries.
An eSIM is a built-in digital SIM inside smartphones, tablets, or laptops. It allows users to activate mobile plans instantly without needing a physical SIM card, making travel setup faster and simpler.
Consumers can download their eSIM through the Vodafone app or get it by email. The eSIM works alongside an existing SIM and number, ideal for dual-SIM phones like iPhones. Data top-ups are available with all plans.
The eSIM can be activated at any time within 30 days of purchase. Plans are billed in various currencies and start at:
