Moovit Partners with iryo for Travel Planning and Payments in Spain

Public transport passengers can plan, pay, and navigate iryo journeys – all from within the Moovit app

iryo, the first private high-speed rail operator in the Spanish market in terms of number of frequencies owned by partners Trenitalia, Air Nostrum and Globalvia, is announcing its partnership with Moovit, the #1 commuter app used by over 1.5 billion users in 3,500 cities across 112 countries. iryo’s passengers in the 11 cities where it operates – Madrid, Barcelona, Zaragoza, Tarragona, Cuenca, Valencia, Alicante, Albacete, Sevilla, Málaga and Córdoba— can seamlessly plan, and pay for their train journeys — directly in the Moovit app.

iryo is encouraging Spanish citizens to plan their journeys, and pay for them too, using the free Moovit app. Purchasing and validating transport tickets via Moovit has been enabled using Distribusion’s extensive transport ticketing network.

Once a user launches the Moovit app, inputs their destination and selects their route, Moovit will:

  • Display the total cost of the journey: Moovit will calculate and display the total, and breakdown, fare of the journey
  • Enable in-app ticket purchasing: Moovit users will be able to purchase their transport tickets directly in the app
  • Provide ticket validation: Moovit users will be able to get their tickets directly in the app

Moovit’s free iOS, Android, and Web app combines official information from transport agencies as well as crowdsourced information to calculate the best route for each journey. Moovit’s multimodal journey planning engine, coupled with mobile ticketing, will enable passengers to easily plan, pay, and ride.
