Operating System Abstraction Layer (OSAL) Designed to Enhance Third-Party RTOS and Customer Support.
Lynx, a global leader in scalable, safe, secure, and resilient platforms for mission-critical systems, reaffirmed its strategic commitment to work with key real-time operating system (RTOS) vendors, including DDC-I and SYSGO. This strengthened partnership ensures that Lynx’s industry-leading, safety-critical open standard GPU acceleration product suite continues to seamlessly integrate across third-party RTOS environments, reinforcing its commitment to innovation and interoperability.
As part of this initiative, Lynx is planning to introduce an open-source version of its OS Abstraction Layer (OSAL), a standardized infrastructure designed to simplify integration between Lynx’s GPU software solutions and virtually any RTOS. This OSAL framework empowers customers and partners to accelerate the deployment of mission- and safety-critical applications by reducing development complexity and enabling seamless cross-RTOS interoperability.

The partnership between Lynx and these leading RTOS providers underscores a shared commitment to customer success, open ecosystems, and safety-critical innovation. Through these partnerships, Lynx real-time GPU compute and safety-certified graphics solutions will continue to be supported on multiple RTOS platforms, ensuring flexibility and choice for aerospace, defense, industrial, and automotive customers.
Peter Papadatos, Director of Product Management: “Customers require flexibility in their technology stacks, and our engagement with leading RTOS vendors ensures that Lynx’s safety-critical GPU acceleration solutions remain widely accessible. By introducing OSAL as an open-source infrastructure, Lynx is providing a standardized way for RTOS vendors and customers to integrate Lynx’s safety-critical solutions while maintaining performance, determinism, and certification assurance.”
Gary Gilliland, Vice President of Marketing, DDC-I: “DDC-I will continue to support our mutual customers with CoreAVI, as they have now transitioned under the Lynx corporate umbrella. DDC-I has a long history of supporting CoreAVI’s safety-critical GPU solutions that seamlessly integrate with DDC-I’s Deos RTOS as Deos is one of the OS environments of choice for certifiable GPU solutions. This on-going corporate relationship provides flexibility for customers building safety-critical avionics and defense systems. Further, the new OSAL will become another stand-alone library in Deos’ component-based system architecture that enables reuse of DO-178C components and artifacts.”
