HMI and PSI Launch Strategic Infrastructure Alliance

Morien Partners to Develop Aggregate Projects in Atlantic

The business has recently signed a strategic alliance with a large U.S.-based crushed stone operator that is a major move toward realizing the potential of the region as a high-quality supplier of crushed stone for infrastructure projects in Canada and the eastern United States.

This collaboration is rooted in Morien’s deep local expertise and relationships throughout Nova Scotia and Atlantic Canada. The goal? To identify and permit long-life aggregate projects that can supply the growing demand for infrastructure materials—both domestically and for export. With its access to deep-water ports and premium stone reserves, Atlantic Canada is uniquely positioned to become a key supplier in this space.

The timing could not have been more opportune. In May 2025, the Nova Scotia government formally placed aggregate on its list of “Strategic Minerals” under its Critical Minerals Strategy—a development that speaks volumes about the industry’s increasing role in the economic growth of the province.

And the venture is already yielding returns. One project for granite, in Nova Scotia, has moved into formal technical and stakeholder engagement, with permitting and environmental work in process. A project for limestone, in Newfoundland, is moving through due diligence and early-stage technical evaluation.

For Morien, this agreement isn’t just about finding new resources—it’s about smart, sustainable growth. The company will receive milestone payments as projects secure permits, along with competitive production royalties over each project’s lifetime. Importantly, Morien’s partner is covering the project-related costs, aligning perfectly with Morien’s asset-light, partner-driven business model.

As the company continues its focus on high-potential, strategically located resources, further updates are expected as new milestones are reached.

This partnership represents more than a business deal—it’s a commitment to unlocking long-term value in Atlantic Canada, one stone at a time.
